On a recent visit to our partner radio station in London, I had the unique opportunity to sit in on a meeting with the station's editorial team. They were discussing a recent ad campaign in which best-selling author and notable atheist, Richard Dawkins, was financially involved. Simply put, the ad campaign was designed to be the atheist response to the Christian message of salvation. The campaign's message was, "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life."
The radio station had just conducted an interview with Professor Dawkins following his debate with scientist John Lennox at Oxford and they were discussing ways to present portions of the interview to their audience. One of the questions posed to Dawkins was regarding the evolutionary processand how it intersects with morality. The question was: "But if we had evolved into a society where rape was considered fine, would that mean that rape is fine?" Dawkin's response: "I don't want to answer that question."
As a Christian, the answer posed by the interviewer is a simple one. Professor Dawkins' failure to answer this question coupled with his marketing influences will only further negatively impact a society already so far from the Truth. Our hope is not in debate, but in an all powerful God who is the only one who can open blind eyes.
